Each year, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northwest Real Estate agents participate in a regional day of giving. Our offices across Oregon and Washington work together to make a difference in our communities as we ‘Give a Day Away’ in service to others.
Habitat for Humanity is a network of dedicated volunteers and staff members working to build and repair homes across Oregon to make the cost of a home something we can all afford. Habitat focuses on home construction, neighborhood revitalization, and disaster response. Our Florence agents will be refreshing a new home going to a deserving family.
Embrace Oregon Foster Family Program connects vulnerable children with caring community members and families. The Portland Metro Area is home to 8,000 children in the foster care system. Working with DHS, Embrace Oregon works hard to ensure every child can flourish in the system. Our agents volunteered their time and sweat equity by revamping the yards of foster homes to allow for a safer and more welcoming experience for foster children.
Mary’s Place offers housing for women, children, and families. Their goal is to help families reclaim their lives and reducing trauma. The program also offers healthcare, employment, and children’s clubs to participating families in need. Our Burien office will be volunteering with this program this month to help organize and prepare necessities.
Northwest Harvest supports Washington’s statewide hunger, leading the fight for those that go hungry, to have access to nutritious options. Kent agents worked together and packed and sorted 972lbs of oats, making 748 meals for the community.
Our Vancouver area agents are collecting new clothes for children entering their foster care system through Office Moms and Dads. We’ll be collecting new-with-tags clothing for children up to 18 years old so that they have a fresh outfit when they enter foster care, hopefully giving them a sense of dignity as they enter this new phase of their lives.
YWCA Pathways for Women provides women and mothers emergency shelter and safe housing resources. This organization often needs clothes, food, and toiletries. Our Lynnwood agents are volunteering their time gardening and organizing to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Bags of love focuses on helping children in crisis by providing one bag of necessities at a time. Oakmont agents just recently collected backpacks and two barrels full of school supplies to be donated to local children in need. They worked together to put together five bags containing age-appropriate clothing with pajamas, a summer and fall outfit, two pairs of socks and undergarments, as well as toiletries, jackets, books, toys, stuffed animals and school supplies in a backpack. Six bins of boys clothing was sorted and laundered as well. The office also participated in a school supply drive for the local school district and St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County.
Agents in Roseburg will be assisting Sleep in Heavenly Peace by building bunk beds. This organization works to get kids in low-income homes off the floor and comfort of community involvement.
Salem agents helped clean the Leslie Middle School community garden, and prepare it for winter.
