Spencer Butte Trail is located just south of Eugene Oregon making it an excellent workout destination for the residents of the city. The foggy rainforest trails will make you feel like you were transported to another planet. The reason this trail makes a great workout is the final 900 meters which becomes very steep as you get near the top of the butte, but it is well worth the burn. There are also a series of ridgeline trails throughout the Spencer Butte parking area, so if you are interested in a casual walk with your canine friend you are in luck. You could almost hit a new trail every day of the week.

At the end of your hike, you will be rewarded with an amazing view of the Eugene cityscape. You can see Hayward field in its entirety along with the rest of the University of Oregon campus. You will also notice the rest of downtown Eugene and surrounding hills and bluffs. Beware, like many hikes in the Pacific Northwest, fog may impair your view in the fall and winter.

When you get done burning those calories grab some food and for pickup at these amazing eateries in Eugene and Springfield. Cornucopia makes just about any dish you can think of from scratch so you can’t go wrong. Try the fish tacos or their famous Burger which frequently takes the best of Eugene award. If you are interested in a refreshing beer, Vikings Broggot Brewing is a unique take on the brewery trend with their mead style beers, you also can’t go wrong with Cold Fire Brewing’s more traditional but tasty selection.
