STATE PARKS
As the state slowly opens, keep track of local state parks opening back up in Oregon and Washington. Home is still the safest place to be, make sure to bring your mask and hand sanitizer with you. The Oregon Coast is in phase one of reopening, restaurants will have limited seating and lodgings (although it varies) will be opening up the last week of May to the first week of June.

CAMPING
Schedule your summer campout ahead of time, select campsites are expected to open back up June 9th for Oregonians, stay tuned for Governor Inslee’s word on when Washington State camping will open up during phase 2.

TRAILS
Mt. Hood National Park is looking to open up most trailheads on May 29th for day use only. The Olympic National Park has reopened Lake Crescent for day-use only, including Barnes Point, Marymere Falls, and the Storm King boat launch. Know before you go: most restrooms will remain closed and park hours will vary.

DIY HAND SANITIZER
You may have noticed hand sanitizer is hard to find on the shelves. Make your own at home as a fun family activity! You’ll need 99% isopropyl alcohol, 3% hydrogen peroxide, and 98% glycerin along with distilled water. Follow the steps here.

THINGS TO DO:

  • Explore bucket-list attractions like Machu Picchu and the Taj Mahal without leaving home.
  • Calling all seamstresses! Contact your local Jo-Ann fabric store for a mask-making kit! They’ll give you pieces of fabric and you can create masks, drop them back off at Jo-Ann’s and they’ll take them to the local hospital for our heroic medical teams.  
  • Connect on Nextdoor to see what’s going on in your community and check-in with your neighbors. Make sure to practice safe social distancing with neighbors but be sure to check-in with your elderly neighbors. A quick phone call to boost their morale or an offer to walk their dog will go a long way.
